Apartment in Lugano [tips for finding?]

Hi there

We are three people (me, my girlfriend and a friend) moving to Lugano this August to start our master program at USI. We have been looking online for apartments with not that big of a result. Any tips and advices would be highly appreciated.

Best regards from Iceland

Gunnar Berg

Re: Apartment in Lugano

Casa Castalia

Student apartment. Their price is quite cheap but very difficult to get the apartment since lots of students apply for it.

die Oase Jugendherberge Lugano ostelli svizzera
A youth hotel, the price is reasonable.

From my experience, it is very hard to find an apartment. Especially in the beginning of a new term, lots of students need an apartment。 There are also have language problem. Most of local people here donot speak in English although they speach Italian, French, German...
Anyway, it is better for you arrive here firstly, then get some information from local newspapers and the university.

Re: Apartment in Lugano

Ég bý í Zurich, og ég held það sé ekki mikið mál að fá íbúð í Lugano. Gefðu þér bara smá tíma, lærðu inná fólkið, og þá færðu fína íbúð á góðum prís.

Re: Apartment in Lugano

A friend is moving to Zurich at the end of June and is trying to find someone to take his apartment in Lugano. It is located very close to the Lugano Conservatory. However, it may be too small for 3 people. It is one bedroom, one bath, kitchen/living room (I believe they refer to it as an American Kitchen here) and one decent-sized balcony. It is probably only 50 Sqm. I do not know if parking is available. He does not own a car so it's not an issue for him. The building is on a very quiet side street near a park.

Let me know if you are interested and I can probably have him email you some photos. I am not sure about the price.

Ciao,
Mark
