Soon I'll have to relocate from Baden to Lausanne region. Yverdon-les-Bains attracted my attention mainly by friendly flat renting prices (at least compared to Lausanne). So, I'd like to ask about a traffic condition from Yverdon-les-Bains towards Lausanne (and back) in rush hours. Also it would be interesting to know how much time is needed to reach closest ski resorts. Yep, I know maps.google, but it's hard to estimate a traffic time quite often...
Yverdon-Lausanne is not too bad. It's mostly A1 motorway and it's the Lausanne-Geneva stretch that gets realy congested.
As for ski resorts, I can only comment on the Alps Vaudois and the Valais resorts. You can get to Villars or the Portes du Soleil in about and hour and a half. Verbier will take nearly two hours, Crans a little longer and Zermatt just over three hours. All of these resorts converge on the same autoroute - the "Neuf" or A9 which means that on Sunday evenings it gets choked so travel time is anybody's guess but it can be miserable. Outside of Sunday evening it's not too bad and you can access all these places by train.
Can't comment on travel times to the Bernese Alps.
