It took me 3months to get my current apartment and that was finally through a friend of a friend and now I have to move out and start the process again. My difficulty is that I'm self-employed and hence have no salary statements. Does anyone know how you get around this? I am a freelance business consultant with regular clients but this does not seem enough for the Gérance!

Or, do you know anyone with an apartment to rent? 2 piéce minimum around 1200CHF.

Unfortunately the Regies need the mimimum requirements from a potential tenant to avoid the hassles and risk. The "friend of a friend" or the sub-let route is the best way to go in your situation. Also have a look on www.glocals.com and www.worldradio.ch in the classified sections.

Unfortunately this won't be very possible to happen with a regie, the only option that you might can discuss is paying big advance as guarantee, some regies does this but it would be ridiculous money....your only option is a sous-louer or share's being a freelance, i've been there 2 months ago, only got a flat after i started working.

I'd recommend you look for a place in the coutryside area surrounding Lausanne :


- there are much more opportunities that can be directly dealt with the owner, so much less paperwork to fear.


- extraordinary 'Publicar' private postal bus service that picks you up at your door for an extra CHF 3.- and drops you whereever you want for the regular bus fare - car much less needed than it used to be as a result.

You have lived here nearly a year, why not show the bar- stewards your bank statements? Also get a statement from the "office de persuite" that you don't have any debts. Show them a written statement from your landlord covering why you have to move out.

You can also get a copy of your Swiss criminal record, the Post Office have the application form, costs about Fr. 20,--

Could you show your tax returns for the past few years. At least that would show your earning history.
