We will be settling with the familiy in may, and I we have not found a home yet!

Try Chatel St. Denis in Fribourg, excellent transport connections, fast growing town, not so expensive a s Vaud, appartments are available i believe, try Regie Chatel (find it with Google)

While not quite "in-between" vevey and montreux, we moved to aigle a couple of months ago which is 7 mins in the train from montreux further into the valley. It has excellent transport links as it's a main-line stop, plus it has 3 local trains to the ski-resorts of Leysin, Diablaretes and Champerey.

Quite a small place, but does us and there are quite a few new apartments going up. We got ourselves a 4.5 top floor apt which is 7 min walk from the station. I work in Montreux for what its worth so takes me approx 20 mins to get to work......door to door
