My upstairs neighbours tend to smoke the weed stuff after 1am...and with it being hot and my windows open the scent wafts into my flat!!!

Is there anything I can do?

In my opinion you should of course talk to your neighbors! At the very least they should only open a window far from your bedroom. If they don't stop to disturb you, don't hesitate contact the landlord. That's how I would handle it, I think.

Complaining is very Swiss-like. However, smoking weed is even more swiss-like. Meanwhile enjoy the deep sleep and lucid dreams.

As suggested, just ask them to close the windows closest to you.
I guess you'll find them rather placid and amiable

Well, if you really feel disturbed, go and talk to them first. Tell them u feel disturbed, but dont threaten to go to the police^^ I'm sure they understand you and will close the windows... or at least invite you in =)

nah...call the police, but take pictures and post them here when the fuzz kick in their door.

I think I have lived in the UK too long:-). I find it very impolite to go up there after 1am...to go into anyone's place after 1am for any reason.

I sometimes think I should go up there during the day....but when I don't smell the darn stuff...I am not bothered. It just seems pointless if they are not "in the act".

And I "heard" smoking that stuff makes you hungry...and for me to keep control of my girlish figure I don't need any help getting fat

Order a takeaway pizza for them and knock on the door. Then tell them how you feel. I'm sure everyone would win in that situation

Yeah that goes very well with the fact that they may be quite hungry:-)

But with no job....I would not dare spend the money.

No =) Don't go there at 1 am! Go some time during the day. Just say in a polite way that you feel disturbed and try to find a solution. Don't go up there when ur mad as hell and shout at them --> no sense at all!

You dont even need to say you are disturbed.

Just say that when they smoke at night the smell/smoke is coming into your bedroom and it bothers you. Please can you close the window?

As for the other people in the apartment, maybe it doesnt bother them or maybe they dont smell it. Whatever it is there is no need to make a big deal out of it. Im sure when you ask them it will be fine.

Most smokers are very easy going.

How about leaving a note in their mailbox explaining the problem. If that doesn't help then go to the landlord and file a complaint. By the way, does anyone know if that stuff is legal? I thought it wasn't, but I see people from time to time walking around the city smoking that stuff without a worry about the police catching them.

depends on it's strength and perhaps the kanton you're in at the time

I think its pretty unfair to call her a snitch!! She is going to speak with the people responsible and not call the police. I don't see any problem with asking someone to just close there window when they are smoking....
It seems like a fairly reasonable request to me.

yeah go and talk to them! If I were you I'd talk to them. Don't put a note in there mailbox, seems pretty gutless to me...
