Hey folks, I'm kitting out my apartment at the moment and went to buy the furniture on-line but going through the checkout they only give the option of paying on delivery. Has anyone done this with them before? How do they take the payment when they deliver?

I'm a bit worried to order as my french is still non existent so would not be able to deal with the delivery folks too much.

No worries Admiral, I ordered many bits from Ikea and do not speak much German. The customer services spoke English and it went smoothly when the stuff arrived. Pay cash or use a card.

Within a week maybe. They'll call you and arrange it.

How much is delivery?

I've had delivery from Ikea a few times here on the French side and not a one of them has spoken English. It's not terribly complicated though - you'll do fine.

It works out at 10% which is not too bad when compared to what conforama charged me.

Yeah I found that with alot of the things I was looking at, I can see myself ending up popping out there to pick up some of the smaller things but it would have been handy if they delivered duvets etc instead of having to hand over a kidney in micasa for them.

There is a mimimum charge. A few years ago I was forced to take delivery of an item that was no longer available in the shop but only from central distribution. I would have picked it up there but they said no, I had to take delivery.

There was no assembly.

The goods came to CHF 183.50.
The delivery charge was CHF 95.00

It is not necessarily 10%. That is only zone 1. It depends on how far you live from the nearest Ikea. If it is further than 30 minutes by car, it is 16%. (Zone 2). The maximum charge is 500 chf.

When I went through the check out process the amount for delivery after putting in my postcode was 10% so I think I'm close enough, I'm on the edge of Lausanne on the Ikea side so its pretty close.

I was there yesterday to get some small things but would like to buy a sofabed. Online the order said the same price as the sofa price ie delivery included. This can't be right?? Anyone ordered a sofa online with Ikea? Are delivery charges included?
