Parking issue - help please

My wife and I moved into our apartment last year. As part of the viewing we looked at the parking spaces. After moving in, our neighbour started parking in front of his spaces, rather than in them. This has resulted in restricting my wife and I from being able to driving forward into the garage and reverse into our spaces. I spoke with the landlord who has said that the neighbour has lived there for ten years and I should "live with it".

We now have to enter the garage, turn around at the entrance and reverse 100 metres through the garage, round a bend, up a ramp, and into the spaces. We changed my wife's car to ease the process but it remains difficult.

I have asked for a copy of the building plans on numerous occasions to check if the neighbour's "floating" space is correct. My landlord has flatly refused to show me a copy of the plans.

Colleagues say that I'm entitled to see the plans. Can anyone confirm this ? My only option is to hand it over to the legal department at work, but this will probably create an even more uncomfortable atmosphere.

Any help appreciated.

Can't you just talk to your neighbour and ask him to park in his space?

I have asked the neighbour and he said its a space. The landlord lives in the block and socialises with the neighbour. Not sure if I can trust either of them.

Re: Parking issue - help please

This sounds nuts!

2 suggestions:

1) Explain to him the difficulty his parking is causing you and that you understand that he can choose to park where he is, but would he mind awfully not doing so as it is a major pain for you

2) Park exactly where he is parking, in 'his' space, and have it out with him

Good luck!

Join the Mieterverband and ask their advice. You are paying rent for your spaces, your landlord is restricting your ability to use them, you should get a reduction. For example.

Moving, whilst often an unwelcome consideration, would potentially solve your problem and return your quality of life.

Phone the feuer polizei, they take away parking places if they think that if there was a fire that theyed have problems getting to the building.
Explain your problem and see what they say ( theyve taken away 3 parking spaces in front of our house)
