I am looking for Swiss insurance for a large transit, or a box type removal van I hope to buy in Switzerland. Insurance is for personal use. Zuritel, my usual insurer won't add it to my car policy, so I can't combine and swap plates (assuming this is possible with vans?).

I have got a quote for a 93 Peugeot Transit style (2.0TD). 3rd party was more than our 3rd party car policy, which allows us to swap places between both our cars.

Is the age of the van making it more expensive? Does anyone have any tips?

You can only combine and swap plates with the same type of vehicle i.e. cannot change between motorcycle and car, car and van, etc.

Vans are often more expensive to insure as they are proprtionally involved in more claims. That, as they say, is life.

Strange about the premiums as in the UK, my car is double the Swiss price to insure here, yet the Swiss van is twice the UK premium! The car is heavier than the van, and has a bigger engine.
