I have Assura Pharmed basic health coverage.
To see a specialist I know I need to be referred by my nominated GP but what happens next? Does the doctor need to complete forms? Do I just carry on and claim later if the costs are above my franchaise?

Are you going to introduce yourself, as per the rules?

Your normal doctor will arrange a visit to a specialist if it is necessary. You pay the resulting bill and send the copy to the insurance, and they will re-imburse you.

I have Assura Insurance.

My GP referred me to a specialist, the specialist took my card details and will bill Assura direct, Assura will then send a bill for what I owe them.

Thanks that helps a lot. It is not clear from the documentation whether it is necessary to get formal agreement from Assura first!
I note also that Assura use a socalled 3rd party payment system, which means you pay all the bills until you reach your franchaise level and then you bundle up all your receipts and send to Assura from them to calculation what they owe you.

yup thats how it works i also have assura its ok since its the cheapest i could find although now i have applied for some additions like hospitalisation in private hospital lets see if i can get it
