I've been asking around and not received a clear answer yet, so hoping that someone on here can help.

Almost 3 years ago I injured my ankle playing football. I went to a doctor didn't impress me much, and had a small amount of physio too. All of this was paid by my employers accident insurance.

Over a few months it cleared up, but I turned into a lazy bum and have not done any real sports since.

Recently I've realised I'm getting out of shape so decided I need to do something about it and went for a short run at the weekend. I've irritated my ankle again and it feels like it did shortly after the football injury, and I'm sure it's related to not being treated properly in the first place.

I need to see a doctor about this, and I'm wondering which of my may insurances I should claim this on? Would it be my original companies accident insurance as it's related to that? Would it be my current employers insurance as a new accident? Does it now come down to my health insurance as I'm getting old and just falling apart?

Related or not you injured your ankle while jogging, sounds to me like a clear case of an accident which your employer's insurance should cover. Or do you think your ankle came down with a virus and is sick requiring health insurance..?

I would also say accident insurance.

However a letter I received the other day may indicate otherwise...

I fell downstairs in August last year and landed on my knee. I am (was) a regular runner, and since then I've had a terrible pain in my knee when I run. I went to the Sport Clinic in Zurich, and had 2 lots of physio. Because my knee didn't improve with regular physio I was sent to the Schulthess Klink for alternative treatment.

However I received a letter from my accident insurance the other day which stated that their doctor (who has never examined me) says that this knee issue should clear up within one week to three months and therefore they won't pay any further costs. Everything must be paid via my health insurance going forward.

Hopefully your accident insurance provider will be different! But only one way to find out...

Mr Longbyt had a similar sort of thing when the one insurance said that the knee troubles were caused by an accident and the accident insurance said that it was 'wear and tear' and thus 'medical health insurance'. I cannot even remember which paid - one of them did, but it was quite a hassle at the time.

I am afraid to say that your current employer insurance (Accident Insurer) will try to say that he was not informed in the moment he signed the insurance contract with you that you had ankle injury problems. Though he is the first one you have to rely on.
