Hi, we moved to Zurich from Olten in November 2010. I expected an increase of insurance, but just had the bill today and it was an increase of 60%.

We were paying CHF152 a month, we are now being charged CHF241. Now if I look on Comparis website for the same policy (Sansan), same postcode etc the policy is CHF216 a month.

Is this usual? I would have thought the info published on Comparis is gospel, I just called but they gave me a load of blurb about writing a letter and complaining etc

Can I just cancel and go somewhere else? Any other advice?

Well an increase of insurance that much is huge, but not unheard of.

The problem it you can not change outside of the usual cancelation delays, despite the change of premium. What I would do however is see if the raise their premiums again in June, you could cancel then with one months notice I think.

Olten in not the same postcode as Zürich, one is canton Solothun, the other is Canton Zürich. You could try to change to Avanex, a sister group of Sansan whic has cheaper policies in Zürich. I will find out if thats possible because you have changed addresses..watch this space....
