I love My lens [finding insurance for camera lens]

I love them but they cost a lot.
How/where can I insure them?
What are you using?

I'm sure there are places to insure your kit the best policy is to look after it, make sure you don't leave it unattended and keep it clean.

You've raised a very good point. I hadn't even thought about this. When you buy a lens here, and camera body there, a flash unit, another lens, you forget how much the value of your kit is growing.

I'll do some research* over the weekend and let you know what I find out.

*by research that means ask the GF, and then the GF does the calling around

Isn't it insured in a normal household insurance, provided you are insured against theft?

Catalyst,
good choice for the 2nd lens, but beware of the fisheye, it's seems fun at first and it often is, but she might loose interest after a while. Don't buy it before trying the 14 mm extra wide.

I would.. but she has one of these which she doesn't use much tbh.

I think she'll get a lot more out of the 24-70. Fisheyes just a toy really.

Oops, I checked my insurance website. These kind of items are insured when stolen, burnt, ... in the house. Theft outside your house is optional...
That for La Vaudoise insurance company.

These things are generally insured with your household insurance. This is known as supplementary theft insurance outside of the household.

I have my insurance with Mobiliar and confirmed it covers my camera lenses.

Re: I love My lens [finding insurance for camera lens]

As a pro, I have all my gear (inc. computers, etc) insured with specialist insurers back in the UK, it's covered for all eventualities worldwide including theft from cars & public liability.
I'm not sure if they'll insure abroad for anyone though - I think they only agreed to do it for me as I'd been a long term policy holder before moving to CH.

I'm pretty sure you can sort out a specific deal with your home insurance though requiring items to be listed with serial numbers - obviously for a premium, but it shouldn't be that much.

I am going to china (not with the all kit), only with a D700 and some f:2.8 zoom.
Yes, there is always a risk to lose the all kit doesn't mater where you are or how careful you are.

Take pictures of all your gear, with visible serial numbers. Take a print with you in your luggage, not in your cambag!
