I am planning to buy a used Car AUDI 100 , which is very old but the engine seems to be in Good condition... But one of the other car agent says i might have to invest a lot in insurance around 1900 CHF !! The car price is just 1000 CHF... I am really confused if the information is true,, isn't there a way to chk the insurance amount & Road TAX + other taxes if any applicable online!...

I have a first generation A6 (pretty much the same as an Audi 100). I pay 630 CHF for obligatory insurance (with Zurich connect) + 650 CHF in annual road tax (kanton Bern, so it's based on weight of the car).

Of course if the car costs 1000 CHF you can be pretty much sure it wont have MFK, and since it's over 10y old, you will need a fresh MFK in order to register it.

Good news is that these cars had galvanized bodywork so rust is not usually a problem (main reason for failing MFK). Other things are not expensive to fix in these cars, as long as you're not fixing in Switzerland. Find out why did the car fail its last MFK, as if it could have it, it would have it.
