I moved to Switzerland about three months ago and am in the process of obtaining medical insurance. Living in Zurich and not being paid masses (CHF60k, first job out of uni) I was a bit dismayed at the cost of health insurance on top of other expenses, although I always knew I'd have to cough up.
However, I'm quoted c. 50% (sometimes less) by UK insurance companies like Aviva and BUPA than Swiss providers for the same cover. The companies mentioned, and others, have expat policies, and say that in the past they've insured Swiss residents whose policies have been approved by the Swiss authority.
I just want to share this in case it saves anyone a few chuffs, and to see if any forum members have used foreign insurers in the past.
