What a great pick up line...
I'm in serious hot water. I'm a non EU national. I've been living in Geneva and was working at the UN for over 10 years. I lost my job in May of 2010, haven't had any luck finding a new one- so have been living here without a Carte de Legitimation or a permit. (although I have been out of the country quite a lot, I still have an apartment here). My UN health insurance ran out at the end of 2010.
My boyfriend of 3+ years, is an EU national with a Permis C and lives and works in Geneva. Although we don't live together, I have recently found out that I'm pregnant. I have house insurance, year long travel insurance and a basic health insurance, but it's a non-Swiss based expatriate insurance that doesn't cover pregnancy.
If my boyfriend and I get married (which is a whole other can of worms in itself), might his insurance, which is CSS cover my pregnancy costs? Or am I doomed to wait this out back home? I really want to have the baby here but can't afford the maternity costs at the moment.
Crazy stuff, I know....but any advice would be greatly appreciated. I wish I could just be happy about the fact that I'm going to be a Mom rather than constantly worrying about money, mountains of paperwork and endless red-tape.
Thanks
