Does anyone know anything about getting the car insurance here in Lausanne, Vaud?? My friend just bought a car and he has no idea how to deal with the insurance. anyone knows a good company thats cheap and which covers most accidents and etc.?

www.comparis.ch is a good site to compare insurance - all companies will offer the legal minimum of 3rd party insurance. He'll need insurance to get plates, by the way.

Did your friend buy privately? Most car dealers will help you with insurance (not always the best deal though) and there are a number of independant agents as well as brokers tied to the big firms. One thing you will find is that insurance in Switzerland is expensive - but then the service (personal experience only) has been brilliant.

So cheap, no, coverage, hell you can even get coverage against little beasties chewing your wiring, but follow the Lob and start at Comparis.
