The earlier poster's comment that English insurers won't touch Switzerland with a bargepole is interesting. I've just tried to buy insure4carhire.com's annual insurance to cover the excess and other possible insurance costs of car hire. As part of the application process, you have to choose your country of residence. Virtually every country is listed, bar Switzerland. I honestly thought it was a mistake (if I'd been a resident of Swaziland, it would have been fine), but apparently not - the policy is available to residents of virtually every country in the world, apart from Switzerland....Odd...

Lloyds have removed their reinsurance cover for Swiss properties, hence no retail insurer is able to offer insurance to UK owners of Swiss property. I have a chalet in Haute Nendaz, so this, to say the least, a bit annoying. Local swiss premiums are between 1500 and 2000 CHF for a property that was GBP 600 to insure last year out of the UK. If anyone does have a source of UK insurance then please post on this board.
