Look at it another way, do you get your insurance payments back for a car if you don't have an accident or your house or, if you go on holiday, do you get a refund for not making a claim?

But nobody force me to buy a car and pay insuracne. If it will be my choice I will never pay for medical insurance

No it is not remotely true. The only way to sanely deal with paying endless years of medical insurance at several thousand anythings ($/GBP/litres of blood) per year and not visiting the doctor once before you leave is to compare it with the taxation bill you would incur in many 'home' countries. Rather like the Billag - don't think of it in terms of getting nothing for thousands of hard-earned outlay - think of it in terms of "at least I wasn't subsidising an undeserving wasteful bunch of folk to breed like rabbits all the time living at my expense in a subsidised flat."

No, you don't get the premiums back.
You paid for the insurers to accept a risk.

this is another problem. They speak only Swiss German and I don't understand absolutely nothing even about what kind of insurance I have. I know only one - I have the cheapest one.
I'm going to change my insurance company to another this year. But before this I want to be sure they can speak english and able to send me they letters allso in english.
I did not have anough time for choosing last year. Many unusual social things for me. I never live in social system like here

Also get in touch by PM with EF Member Jenny who is an Insurance Advisor. I have often seen posts referring people to her for insurance advice.

I'm no leaving yet.
But if it would be true I would never use insurance. In case you have a plans to leave Switzerland in future it would be better to save this money instead of wasting it for meaningless expensive isurance payments

Well in other countries if you do not claim your insurance they give you something back but it is usually a very very VERY small amount. In the NL it is 150 euros for instance, but that does not happen here |

Look at it as a tax..
In the UK, do you get a reduction in NHS if you do not go to GP, hospital or have a subscription? of course not..
