Is your BUBA for UK residents or BUPA international.

I have BUPA international, however it's not accepted here and I have a local one in addition.

No chance I'm afraid

From memory BUPA covers hospital treatment & excludes GP treatment which is required.

BUPA does not cover childbirth, which for ZH is a problem even if you are male.

Seriously though I spoke to more than one BUPA Intl salesman and they all said it's Canton specific, my local gemeinde here said forget it and so did axa winterthur (thinking axa in UK may suffice).

BUPA Intl salesman told me exactly same thing, I found out that basically is nonsense, I will have to go get a local one to cover me.

If so, BUPA might be acceptable.

That was the case when we first moved here on an inter-company transfer paid through the home country office, not through the Swiss office. OH's company set it up with whatever powers-that-be rule on such things, so I really don't know the details. In any event, we were not required to have a Swiss health insurer for our first 5 years here, we had coverage through BUPA international instead.

It was only when OH switched to a local contract that we had to go with a Swiss insurer.
