| and you also cannot change without the proof that another company has accepted you already. So first get in some offers from competitors, then decide and sign a contract with one of them, then send in the cancellation (according to your terms and conditions) with the proof of your acceptance. all before 30. Nov for a change in the new year.
dont forget that some of the additional insurance bits you cannot change before 5 years (you have to check the conditions of these additional bits if you signed up for any) | |

You can choose your new company after cancelling.
The new company will send an attestation to your old company.
In theory, this should be done by the 31.12 but it is sometimes done in January depending on how many new insurees the insurance company has received. It's clear that if you have 200'000 new people to send attestations for, you may not get it all done in a month!
But yes, you're right, you need a new company to go to for the 1st of Jan.
The basic insurance is compulsory so you can't just cancel it without having somewhere else to go.
So, to summarise, you need to respect 3 things in order to switch companies :
>> Cancellation letter needs to be sent by registered mail before the 30th of November
>> You need to be up to date with your premiums (no poursuites)
>> You need to have a new provider for the 1st of Jan.
