| | | Insurance for 80+ traveler coming to CH
I want to bring my grandma to CH (again).
Now, last time i did that she was 78 and the insurance people (concordia) insured her for the duration. However, the limit for insurance is 80 and she has just recently passed the mark.
Does anyone know any insurance for people >80?
thanks

I wonder how do you plan to bring her? Is she coming alone? Together with you? With other family members?
We would like to bring over my monster in law for a visit, but not sure if she can ger her way through the airport, customs and so on with only Mexican Spanish and no clue about travelling. What if she gets lost in... wait a minute... hmmmm.

Her sister lives in LA. so she takes her to LAX, there swiss puts her in a wheelchair (on request, she can perfectly walk and function). From there I just pick her up on Zurich. although customs can be a problem, (as she doesn't speak english...) she manages somehow... old mexican grandma tricks, I guess.

If from the UK she should check with SAGA insurance.
BTW - bravo on making the effort with your Gran, respect |

For over-70s, Elvia ask for EUR 110 for one month, no further questions asked. From my experience, I don't think SAGA can match that (I can't tell because they will not give me a quote without me providing a UK postcode)

Check http://www.axa-schengen.com/, they claim :
- simple: buying it is fast and price depends only from length of stay,
- a travel insurance for everyone at the same price: any age, any nationality,
- a medical assistance by phone available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
Not affiliated with them.

Ollie | | | | | Quite cheap indeed. But also a very low cap for the cheap deals (EUR 30'000 for medical doesn't get you far in Switzerland once you have to be taken to hospital for anything serious, and at an advanced age at that).

Grandma is rather resilient to illness.

Maybe that's why people steal grandmas. Grandma's can only be stolen if she lives in a caravan. | | The following 2 users would like to thank tom tulpe for this useful post: | |
