Generali -- funny or unprofessional?

I applied for a life insurance with Generali -- no IV benifits, just plain life insurance.

Got a letter saying that for people of "my nationality" (obviously non-EU/ non-American) the insurance cap is basically peanuts. Also for the Premium Waiver to take effect they wait for 6 months for people of "my nationality" (obviously non-EU/ non-American) instead of 3 months for other worthier souls.

Am obviously angry with this primitive world view. Had similar experiences with other insurance companies?

How does an insurance cap relate to life insurance? If you die, they pay the amount insured, just the once. Don't they?

Re: Generali -- funny or unprofessional?

That is true but in their opinion people with certain nationalities are more likely to die than the others -- which means (for example) even if you applied for and need a mio. CHF cover, they will only cover your life for 10k :-)). Certain lives are "cheaper" than certain others

Re: Generali -- funny or unprofessional?

Guess what: men die earlier than women... which means that in Switzerland men have to pay higher premiums than women...

In the EU this is considered "discrimination"... even though the statistics speak for themselves...

Re: Generali -- funny or unprofessional?

I suspest their claims records make a very good reason for this, Insurance companies generally don't turn away potentially profitable business-
