| | | Ski insurance
Grüezi mit'enand,
I would like to know how could I get an insurance for the winter sports, or what do I need, leaving aside the tickets for the train and piste...
The krankenkasse doesn't support this type of sport.
Perhaps the ticket for the piste includes the insurance?
Advices are welcome. I would be very thankful.
Thanks |

Thanks | | | | | I've never needed this, as ski accidents are covered by my company's SUVA accident insurance - might be worth checking out if you're similarly covered.
But unlike in France, it's not normally possible to buy insurance with the lift pass in Switzerland.

I really thought that most if not all Swiss accident Insurance cover skiing and all sports. Would be interested to hear which do not.
Ours do - but on top we are members of REGA helicopter rescue. We pay 70CHF for two per year - the best vale Insurance ever, and an absolute must for any who love the outdoors and mountains.

This is a legal requirement.

I have the insurance certificate AHV-IV from the company too. Would it be enough?
But, there's something I don't understand. Why do I need an extra insurance if I have a bike? What's different? I mean the label you have to stick in the bike or something like that... Is that an insurance too?

Krankenkasse insurance should cover you if you personally have an accident and yes Rega is brilliant!! I have seen Rega airlift a few people in my time and the closest so far was when the kids realised the person being airlifted had been sitting next to us on the train hopefully that is as close as we get to needing them. I would check your krankenkasse as I think most really cover the accident part for you needing to be taken to hospital however they may not cover the liability portion of you causing an accident.
You may find in a number of cases that your house contents insurance includes a liability cover that if it is a good one extends to covering you for accidents or damage you/family may cause. This probably includes skiing but worth checking with your insurer
So as you will see there are a few options of where you either already have or can obtain the required cover. This is mainly as skiing is a particularly normal event here. This however also would mean you follow the rules on the slopes and dont ski a piste which is marked as closed.
Another point to look out for is that the skis you are using have an up to date BFU sticker. While not essential for insurance it will show that you have taken due care by making sure the bindings are correctly set for your skill, weight and ski style.

Skiing is covered by your normal accident insurance- but check with your employer.

If you work, you have SUVA, if not then you are covered on your health insurance.
No problem.

I don't find any card with "SUVA" and I work here...
And the other question. Do I need some type of sticker for the skies like for the bike?

You just tell the medical services your company name and their insurer and it all gets taken care of. Don't even need to pay first and claim it back, it's all billed direct. | Quote: | | | | | And the other question. In Spain there's a supplement that you pay with the forfait that costs 2€ and it is the insurance; or you can pay a supplement for the whole year to be covered. But it works differently here...

the accident insurance will cover accidents to you but if you run into someone and they break a leg for example.. then it does not cover you.
for this you need personal liability insurance.

What's that personal liability insurance? How much does it cost?

for this you need personal liability insurance. | | | | | As accident insurance with work covers loss of earnings & pensions have dissability insurance I don't think liability claims are a huge issue in CH.
The other person's accident insurance will pay the medical bills.

It's truly crazy that one doesn't need 3rd party insurance to ski- as injuries that can be caused to others can be really bad and terribly costly possibly a lot more than with cycling (and I say this as a very keen skiier and boarder).

I have a friend who rents small aeroplanes in LA he has very little insurance as it's expensive, his planes are all on credit & has few assets. Nobody will bother to sue him as he has no insurance, they will sue the fuel supplier instead!
