my contract finished on 30.09.2011 and my insurance company sent me document for new term but I was not in Switzerland that dates, therefore I received nothing. now I would like to change my insurance company. Do you think I am eligible to change as my contract finished already?

Do you mean the Basic Health Insurance? No, you won't be able to change for 2012, you missed the deadline. As long as you stay in CH you MUST have the Basic Health Insurance.

Yes I had basic student health insurance which was expired on 30.09.2011.
I just got back to CH and I received letter from government that I need to renew my contract till 22.12.2011.

My point is that I do not want to renew my contract with my previous agency. Am I able to change my company?

Also I called them today, and they were so rude with me, they pushed me to pay yearly rather than quaterly.

fact is, you should have sorted all that before the end of your last contract. Without seeing the contract, nobody can say for sure whether you can change or not. It is normal that insurance is automatically renewed unless you inform them in writing over a month before the end that you want out

well its not illegal to push you to do anything and also wouldnt think that it could be illegal too.

One thing for sure though, if they have automatically renewed your contract, nothing will have changed and you agreement would continue as it was the last year.

If they are trying to change something in your contract, then it probably has expired and you should be free to get a new insurance company

As i said, if your contract has been renewed automatically, they MUST keep the same terms as the contract you had, therefore you should be able to pay monthly.

If the contract has expired, then you are free to do what you want, you will not need to "get out" of the contract as by the sounds of things you are not in it.

No they have not sent, but I here need to admit my fault that I have forgetten to let them know my new address.

I guess, that's why the company already put me on the blacklist and they are so strict about this.

I'm not sure the canton can help you in a dispute with your insurance company. You just need to continue to work it out with them.

Are they asking you to pay for months were you were out of the country? Did you actually deregister when you left? You may be able to get out if you play dumb, send the deregistration letter and tell them that of course you sent it to them. They must have lost it. (sure it's a game. But it could work).

If you can't get out of the contract tell them (don't ask) that you simply do not have the money to pay the year in full and that you will continue to pay like you did before so there is no use in them insisting.
