I had a 3 year car insurance contract wit AXA. into second year I decided to change my insurance to zurich.I sent them the cancellation request and they accepted it, but they said they need proof from service des automobile . from 1st of Jan I had my new insurance, but the axa still says I should pay them the new year contract. isn't it the new insurance responsibility to inform service des automobile? or I should had done it myself? what should I do know? I should pay 2 insurance?

You need to speak to your agent at Zurich, if AXA had indeed accepted your termination before the end of the year for 2012 then on Jan 1st the agent should have sent the notification electronically to the service des automobile based on you signing the Zurich contract; there may be some complications and you should get in touch with the issuing agency and they will sort this out for you. You cannot have 2 policies in place on one vehicle, it is not legal and thus not really possible.

Can you anyone inform me what procedure should the insured (thats' me) follow for changing over to another car insurance agency.
My new insurer (baloisedirect) called me over telephone and said that is my responsibilito to check with a X agency (couldn't catch the name) and change my *carte grise*. On their part they would informe Service automobile that they are my new insurer.

My question, I live in Baselland canton and would like to know, if it is necessary to change this *carte grise" and if so, the procedure please

Go to the place that issued the carte , it's written on it! they will issue a new one whilst you wait & probably free of charge!

Is it must to change carte grise, when you change only the insurer (not the car)?

Yes, as the insurer is listed.

Just get a new insurance, and go to the DMV to get it changed.
