Insurance companies for residents of Bern?

Hello all,

Could anyone share some information about good insurance companies for Bern residents? Is it enough to choose the one with lowest premiums in Comparis if I am looking for simple, basic insurance (Grundversicherung)? In regards to service quality are all insurance companies more or less the same or should I not risk taking the cheapest one?

Thanks,
Jovita

Hi Jovita, we work through an agent who searches out the best deal across 4 or 5 insurance brokers, let me know & I can PM you his details.

Re: Insurance companies for residents of Bern?

I have found one with a 5.5 rating at Comparis (the highest) and their policies look very good. Will try them this year. They are www.sumiswalder.ch. They have a list of GPs you can choose (almost all) and their hausartzmodel is not too expensive in Bern.

Re: Insurance companies for residents of Bern?

Thanks for replies Polorise & muze7!

From what you both wrote it's pretty clear that choosing the cheapest insurance is far from enough. But is it also so
regarding obligatory, basic insurance? Isn't it more or less the same what different companies' provide?
For
Zusatzversicherung I should get a good deal from my employer that's why I just need to decide about Grundversicherung.

I'll take a look at www.sumiswalder.ch. Thanks once again.

J.

Re: Insurance companies for residents of Bern?

They should, however, apparently they have some ways they can attempt to refund less for you, and then it is up to you to fight it.

For example, some companies have added clauses to their rules, like, there is this company I nearly signed up with that someone mentioned on here, they ask do you smoke, you say no, you get a cheaper policy for non-smokers without realizing it. Then it turns out if you get lung cancer (passive smoke anyone?) they won't pay anything!

Now how is that for trying to get out of normal obligations! So read the AVB (the policy rules) of the grundvers. before you sign!
