You would think that with a device that was specially linked to navigation and tracking that this would be possible. TomTom has buddy lists, so you can see where your buddies are. Sadly, I don't have any.

Also, without the serial code, they would have to hack the device to register on TomTom in order to get updates etc.

to link it would need to transmit - satnavs receive, the buddy list and other tomtom PLUS "features" only work when used with a bluetooth enabled phone.

updates are not a problem at all, there are thousands of sites where updates can be downloaded for free. I update my satnav every 4 months and I never use the official tomtom/garmin etc sites.
