Skiing & Insurance - do I need to keep my ski service receipt?

Someone recently told me that when getting your skis serviced you must always keep the receipt which proves that the skis have been maintained. In the event of an accident the insurance company could ask you for it, and if you can't provide it, it could cause problems and/or void your insurance.

Does anyone know if this is true? Any experiences?

What I did notice today when I picked up my skis from service was that they (deliberately?) avoided giving me a receipt. Hmmm. Think I will go back and ask them for it tomorrow.

Don't think this can be in anyway true. There are hundreds of people who maintain and service their own skis and snowboards. Should I give myself a receipt when I wax and edge my board?

Not to mention all the tools that Wurth has available at all ski areas these days to tighten up your bindings....

I can attest to the fact that, 50'000 francs later, the medical insurance company asked not one question about servicing.
