Travel Insurance

Hi everyone, im new here and have a question to ask.

I have been living in Switzerland for the last 1 & half years and have had swiss health insurance during this time.
I am leaving my current employer so will no longer have a visa or my health insurance. So I will be needing to get some travel insurance (to cover me for a month or so).
I am Australian but have looked up getting some travel insurance from there but it seems that because I am not in Australia they won't let me get it.

Does anyone know of any travel insurance I can get while I am in Switzerland to cover me for Europe & Switzerland.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

Re: Travel Insurance

Which calamity do you want to insure against?
And where are you traveling?

If it is medical treatment, due to illness or injury, then ask your existing health insurer for extended cover. When medically insured in Switzerland, your insurer will issue a card, which is also valid in EU countries.

Re: Travel Insurance

I had the same question a few months ago, and the best solution for me was to get a 'Zusatzversicherung' to my basic health insurance. Not only medical costs, but also cancellation, luggage, assistance etc are covered. I took it because of the travel insurance, but it also gives me better covering in Switzerland and it costs like 11chf per month.

-oops, just realizing that you will not have Swiss health insurance anymore.
It's true that you can't apply for Australian travel insurance whilst you're living abroad, ask about expat-insurance. It's usually a bit more expensive, but the only way to stay covered if you're residing abroad for a longer period of time.
