Avenir / Group Mutuel - Good?

I'm thinking of changing to "Grundversicherung" to Avenir / Groupe Mutuel - any experiences with them? Thanks!

I have my insurance with them including the supplementary, have had no problems so far. Do you have a question about something specific?

We have been with groupe mutuel for the past 6 years without any problems. A few issues have been resolved by letter. They don't seem to handle email well and i cannot negotiate their phone system in German. Letters in english are usually understood and i get a formal reply in german that i can then translate.

Refunds have been prompt, 1-2 weeks and i use a 'hausartz' model and changed to a low franchise this year so have had a few refunds...

I would advise anyone of thinking of going to Avenir ...Nooooo!

We have had so much trouble with them and had to consult a lawyer,who told us that there are more complaints about Avenir than any other health insurance company in Switzerland. Avenirs communication between one office and another is diabolical.

We've been with Group Mutuel for 3 years and have not had any problems with them. They take a couple of weeks to reimburse which is pretty standard for most insurance companies I think.

They never reply emails, I sent them at 3 different occasions and never got a reply.

I will cancel them in November. They are cheap but just not there when you need them.

we've been with Groupe Mutuel since 2010. A few claims - handled efficietnly and as per contract.

This year changed to their SanaTEL (telmed) model. Premium nearly halved.

Contacted the telephone after seeing the doctor once - they said no problem - in English

Google "Kassensturz Groupe Mutuel" and you will see quite a lot of negative comments.

Not replying to emails is not a phenomenon unique to Groupe Mutuel, the Swiss in general don't seem to like using email very much. There are so many companies that we've had dealings with who still use fax it's unbelievable.

Group Mutuel have always been fine for us (4 years now)and any issues I've had with them have been handled quickly and efficiently by telephone. Our dealings have either been with the Philos arm or the Mutuel Assurance arm rather than the Avenir arm though. ( all based at the same address)
