Aargau, what a mess with student insurance

I have been informed that AG doesnt accept CSS student care insurance anymore. I was paying like 86/month.
I'd like to know your suggestions how to deal with this issue.
The company told me that "If you get an address in Zurich it's fine. Otherwise you have to contract a LaMal insurance".
What is Lamal?! is it a public insurance or private like css?

I'm living in AG, if I use an address in zurich, does that solve my problem? I'm wondering if get sick in AG, they might not cover since I gave an address in zurich.

I'm like this

Re: Aargau, what a mess with student insurance

It wouldn't be available in Zurich either.

Specifically about CSS Student Care

There is no public insurance here in Switzerland, it's all private. You just need to contact CSS directly or Assura or any other health insurance company to arrange cover.

Use www.comparis.ch to see what sort of prices the various companies can offer.

Not possible. Basic insurance is compulsory, and you have to give proof you have one.

Did you actually put in your details and see what comes up? I entered a 20 year old living in Aarau with a CHF600 excess for standard insurance including accident cover and got these - all of which are much cheaper than the 86 per month that you say you're currently paying.

https://en.comparis.ch/krankenkassen...kingviewtype=1

Obviously it depends on what sort of cover you want, but you should be able to match/better your current price I would think.

I just want to solve this problem: if I were in ZH I would pay ~80Fr/month, here in AG I have to pay as 3times as much.

This is hardly rocket science. AG don't accept the student policies. ZH do.

You may well find that the ~80Fr/month doesn't exist anymore in Zurich either. I had CSS studentcare (living in Fribourg) and a colleague also had it while living in Lausanne - both of us received letters to tell us our policies would cease at the end of 2014. Couldn't find any other cheap, student-type insurance options.

But then again the ETH website seems to contradict this:
https://www.ethz.ch/en/studies/inter...insurance.html

If you are at UZH they have people who can answer your questions:
http://www.uzh.ch/studies/studentlif...rances_en.html

I'm aware of that . I'm also ETH student but bloody AG doesn't recognize swisscare stuff.

Really, just enter your info on the comparis website and see what figures you get. That's not rocket science either.

Re: Aargau, what a mess with student insurance

Option 1 - get "normal" (not student) insurance and consider yourself lucky for the money you have saved in previous years compared to your Swiss colleagues (seems like the logical option, as Medea Fleecestealer pointed out, use comparis)

Option 2 - move to Zurich

Option 3 - commit some sort of fraud by claiming you live in a canton that you don't, and hope you never need to claim on your insurance.

Re: Aargau, what a mess with student insurance

HTF do you study?

You've had people explain and do your work for you, and still you are clueless.

Your options are simple;
  1. Get a normal health insurance policy - Use the link given by Medea above to compare prices
  2. Move to Zurich if they accept the student policy there and that is the only policy you are willing use

Do some work yourself. If there are still things that are not clear then come back.

You've whined in the past that people groan you. This is why. We are not your parents.

Re: Aargau, what a mess with student insurance

Newstudent is living in Switzerland since Jan 2012 and doesn't even know what Lamal is. From his previous posts I understand he actually works so no clue why he wants to keep on applying for student insurance.

But then again from reading previous topics/posts, "newstudent" really just seems to be a lazy annoying complaining forum member.

If your permit is from Kanton Aargau, you cannot give an address in Zürich; otherwise all residents of Republic and canton of Geneva (a canton with the most expensive LAMal premiums) will give an address in Appenzell (both half-cantons have cheap premiums, cauz people over there don't overuse their medical facilities, IOW they don't go to doctor for every insignificant boo-boos....

The problem is not with lazyness, the problem is that bloody AG does not support student insurance which is 3 times less in price.

And I've given you possibilities that could be even cheaper than the student insurance which Aargau would accept.

Suck it up. If you want to live in Aargau you'll have to do without the student insurance. If you want student insurance move back to Zurich and hope they still accept it. Whatever you save in the insurance costs will go in the increased rent anyway.
