Health insurance with L permit (5 months)

Hello everyone, I have a question about the health insurance. I am here since the beginning of November and in January I signed a contract with an health insurance company. I have an L work permit until 31.03.2015. I received only payment forms for January, February and March so far and on the contract they asked me to sign there is nothing about the end-date. Can it be possible that they made me sign a contract of 3 months related to my permit, or every health insurance is for 12 months?

Re: Health insurance with L permit (5 months)

If you haven't asked otherwise, it's quite common to get your bills every 3 months. They save cost this way, instead of sending it every month.

If you want to pay for 6 months in one go, or even for the whole year, you get a small reduction (5% of the total bill if you pay for all the year, 2.5% for 6 months).

Otherwise, health insurance doesn't come with an end date, no.

Normally insurance send 3 months payment slips in advance with different due date in each slip. In march you will receive payment slips for April, May and June. So even if you deregister/leave in march, you may receive these slips because they are generated by computer but you do not have to pay them if you send them copy of deregistration letter until 31.03.2015.

This means that if I stay in Switzerland, but with a different permit (B permit) I have to keep this insurance until it is possible to change it (November), doesn't it?

Yes if you stay in Switzerland you will need to continue with the same insurance until year end.
