Complementary Health Insurance for Arthritis

Hi everyone, I am knew to this forum and to Switzerland so help will be gratefully received. I was turned down for complementary health insurance with group mutuel, I believe because I have arthritis. Does anyone know of any health insurance that will cover me for complementary even though I have this condition? Has anyone succeeded in getting complementary for any chronic condition? Thank you in advance.

check your employer.
Many big employers have deals with insurers that will force them to take any employee, regardless of preconditions.

Just so you understand, complimentary insurance is sold on standard rates with the view to making a profit, if you have a chronic condition that will require pay outs year after year, the underwriters will obviously say NO. Amazed you even asked the question.

It seems that this is true for those working for big employers with huge insurance contracts. Not for us mere mortals though, which seems a bit unfair, but this is the way it is (we totally failed to get any supplementary insurance due to age and pre-existing conditions, I'm afraid, despite having close contact with one of the insurances).

It's all about profitability & nothing else, if you can provide 1000 clients then the insurers will take a hit for a few, of course if the company only employs sick & disabled then come renewal the insurance will refuse to insure on the same terms.

Switzerland is I believe unique that there is zero underwriting on legally required medical insurance, it's a huge bargain for the over 55's as they are subsidised by the young ones. It's totally unfair as their was no legal requirement for medical insurance 20 years ago, so elderly Swiss residents who have lived here all their lives have not paid their 'fair share'. Even better if a foreign government picks up the tab for retirees
