Do I need health insurance for my husband if he gives up his B permit?

My husband commutes from the UK and has NHS cover there but we have been paying for Health insurance for him in CH. Are we required by law to have health insurance if he is no longer a B permit holder?

Where does he work? Where is he registered as 'ordinarily resident? Or does he just come for the odd week-end here and there?

Then he doesn't need Swiss health insurance.
Was he resident here and then moved back to the UK? Not sure why he would have had a B permit and paid health insurance at all otherwise. Two weekend visits per month wouldn't make him a resident here.

If he is not registered as living here, and does not have a B permit, then he doesn't need Swiss health insurance. But he should have a comprehensive health travel insurance, including repatriation to UK.

And get a EHIC card (old E111) in case of emergencies- but travel insurance is essential for non-emergencies, follow-up and repatriation as Sbrinz says.
