Are there really any Insurance Brokers? Zurich

Hello! I have been trying to reach some Insurance Brokers for Zurich area from suggestions in this forum (private messages received of a recommendation and in threads (Jenny) ) but to not avail. They might be busy, no problem , but we would like to get one asap.

Are there really any Insurance Brokers? any straight forward recommendations?

Anyone who could help in that?

Thank you again!

Re: Are there really any Insurance Brokers? Zurich

I thought I was a real savvy when living in regions where I have local language knowledge. I won't deny that having the ability to speak German makes life much easier for some of you...one day I will speak German too...

Thank you Sbrinz...yet, a yellow page recommendation would list non-ending brokers without recommendation...but alas, thanks.

Why is it so difficult for people to either say what is their insurance and/or their broker to make life easier for those who -like me- have just arrived and were all positive but after few weeks we are staring to give in the enthusiasm!

I am sinking!

Because insurance companies are more or less all alike.

For health, auto and liability insurance rates, see comparis.ch

Hi Mullhollander! Thanks for reply... you are right, I understand that! But at least,...no brokers at all interested in taking the case of helping us hiring insurance...? I have no doubt that in two years I will see this cloud of health insurance as an easy non-complicated thing...but I am annoyed at l being unable to chose, take, decide on the best deductible? The best company to get faster reimbursements? This and that...? All seems cloudy abt it and I would like to chose well.

Jenny seems not to be there....neither any of the contacts listed on EF seem to "exist"..the email addresses all return as "unable to deliver mail"...sorry, I feel stressed today.

I just need one or two brokers! Et voila!

Thanks though... umh...begging again: any brokers out there?

Re: Are there really any Insurance Brokers? Zurich

Only about 1/4 of Swiss use an insurance broker (Versicherungsmakler), the rest go directly to insurance companies. This article discusses how independent insurance brokers often sign their customers to insurance policies that pay the best commissions rather than find the best policy for the customer:

https://www.ktipp.ch/artikel/d/hohe-...gige-beratung/

My suggestion: use comparis.ch to compare rates and then contact the insurance company directly.

Re: Are there really any Insurance Brokers? Zurich

Have you read this book? We often recommend it.... https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb...in+Switzerland

When you know what to expect here, life might not become so stressful.

When I was searching for an insurance broker I simply typed "insurance broker" and "Zurich canton" into the yellow pages, and there was the list.

As Mullhollander says, brokers steer you to the company that pays them the most commission. As an individual, you are not going to get any special deal, so do the research yourself, based on the result from www.comparis.ch. Phone the companies and ask for a quote.

Mate, you really don't need broker for it. The brokers will not help you, they will lead you to get the insurance you don't need.

My advice for you would be:
- take maximum franchise (2500 chf). Then monthly insurance is the cheapest; and it turns out to be the cheapest for you in the long run
- go to www.comparis.ch and compare insurances. If I were you, I'd take only basic (mandatory) health insurance now, then you can always add something later.
- take house doctor model. Then find a house doctor (ask someone) who speaks English. Roughly speaking (besides emergencies) your house doctor is your first contact point. That way, when you are sick, your house doctor can refer you to the specialist, if needed.
- probably assura is the cheapest. I am using them for 5 years, no issues at all.

Does this help?

Hello Simple_person, thanks for email. She did finally reply and was very helpful. We finally contacted over email. These past days I believe she/her company had some training and/or also on Monday was holiday...and the weekend last week et cetera...but finally yesterday, we made contact.

Thanks to all other replies. I will reply to each of them later on today when I have got some time.

But thank you all have a nice day!

Not my experience. I use a broker and he has gotten me fantastic deals. My wife works for an insurance company and even with preferential rates cannot match my broker!
