Personal Liability Insurance claim process

Hi All,
Im new to swiss. Next month im renting a new apartment. I was told by my friends to take private liability insurance which would cover my 2 months deposit at the end of my lease. Does anybody know how the liability insurance would cover for the deposit? At the end of rental contract do we need to call the insurance guys and claim the amount which the owner puts on us for cleaning?

Not sure how this claim process would protect my deposit.

Re: Personal Liability Insurance claim process

The liability insurance won't cover cleaning. Only damages.

So far me, I've given the (apartment) agent my insurance detailas when I've moved out and they've dealt dorectly with the insurer.

Cleaning is not something the insurance will pay
You are looking for an insurance to pay your deposit & charge you interest plus liability insurance.

Re: Personal Liability Insurance claim process

I can see in my contract that CHF 6 would be charged per sq.meter when i vacate. So the liability insurance wont cover this charge. But incase if my kid scribbles on the wall or if i damage the wall when trying to put a nail or fridge or dishwasher repair then the insurance would cover.

Is my understanding correct?
@mirfield: thanks for sharing ur experience.

Can someone share your experiences with the liability insurance claim at the end of ur rental contract?

Appreciate your response guys.
