Can anybody please point me in the right direction to get household insurance? I have tried the comparis website but it refuses to continue if I dont already have existing insurance! Does anyone have personal experience in Canton Zug, or even better, in Menzingen? I have nothing fancy really, just enough furniture to get by till the family arrive from SA, but at the same time dont want to start all over again (especially the transport is a nightmare).

I have my house insurance with Die Mobiliar - kindly sorted by the HR lady at work. Maybe yours can help you too? I gave her a value of my possessions and she did the rest really (which was ace of her). Even if yours won't go to that much trouble, they should be able to help you out a little with the language etc?

Persevere with comparis and just make up a previous insurer. Get a few to send you offers. Easy.

I got past without a previous insurer, at least for a quote. There was an option for "New in Switzerland" or "Neu in der Schweiz" Is that an option for you to choose or enter? Haven't had a moment to actually GET the insurance, though, so apologies if I just didn't get to this step.
