Question re insurance for a rented flat

I've tried to seach the forum for an answer to my question, but with little success, so any guidance would be appreciated.

My partner and I rent our flat in Montreux. An issue has just arisen whereby the neighbour below pointed out a leak appearing in his room, which happens to be directly below our bathroom (and coincided with me having a shower). ALthough there is no direct evidence of a leak from our bathroom.

We have the basic Cantonal insurance against fire damage, but we dont not appear to be covered for anything water related.

I have checked the contract which states that the agency is responsible for mainaining bathroom installations. I dont want to alert the agency just yet, as i need to have more information about the status first.

Does anyone know if such a leak is covered by the agency, or should we have insurance for this.

Many thanks.

This would definitely be covered by your agency, I would contact them immediately before the damage gets worse.

Thanks. I though so, but you never know. Fortunately, we do have a second bathroom... so the other one is definitely out of use for now!

If you know when the investigator will come to your neighbor's appartment, maybe you can stay at home, he might knock on your door anyway? Just a thought.
