I will move to Lausanne, Switzerland, to work as a postdoc in EPFL. The work will start at March 1, 2007. Now I am waiting for the Visa to Switzerland.I know every one resident in Switzerland must be insured. I want to know is there a health insurance company, which has some insurance products that are most suitable for pregnancy? The reason why I ask such a question is that my wife will go with me and she is pregnant now. The childbirth will be in May 2007. If anybody knows such a company which has a product that is most suitable for my case, would you please tell me what it is?
Thank you very much for your help in advance.
Wish you a bright and successful 2007. Best regards,
SY
I've no idea what a postdoc EPFL means, but it sounds exciting.
Regarding your question - everyone in Switzerland is required to have a basic health insurance, and all the providers of this insurance and required to give it to you. The good news is that it also covers preganancy, so you are in luck.
Even more good news - we've already covered these issues a lot before, so all you have to do is go back and read some of the other discussions we've been having in other threads in this section or use the search function to find everything you need.
You can add a supplemental insurance that might provide extra benefits for maternity. Email Jenny, she is an expert and arranges these things, see older thread somewhere on medical insurance. PS. Will you be a MC fellow?
