Need health insurance lausanne

I have the ongoing problem of finding health insurance. As i was a student last year and was on exchange i had health insurance from my uni back home. Now im nannying for a family and have a 5 year B permit. As i work for a family who speak the same language as me im not entitled to be called an au pair and as a result am not allowed au pair insurance. Having just had my insurance turned down by the commune because of this (and being refused by other insurers as im asthmatic and need steroids ) im finding it hard to get insurance. Can anyone recommend an insurer that i can go to in lausanne and talk to in person as this will be quicker than online. I need to get insurance soon but would like to keep costs down. Being 20 will i be able to get youth insurance or anything?? Also will any places be open on a saturday or am i just being ridiculously hopeful!??!

Thanks

Hi I just found a site called Comparis.ch.
It shows you comparisons between the various companies and allows you to choose on the basis of price\coverage.
You'll also find a comprehensive list of all the insurers and their numbers there.
lots a luck

Re: Need health insurance lausanne

compulsory cover, they will cover you regardless of asthma or any other health insurance.

It is compulsory, and you will be back-dated to when you arrived, unless you can prove you have had cover from somewhere else...

I second the recommendation that you contact 'InsuranceJenny' - look her up here on the forum - she's a freelance insurance broker...and she got us a better deal than comparis...she will also talk you through (on the phone if you need to) what your options are, what compulsory covers (it's the same services regardless of which company you choose, but the price and payment arrangements vary...there are a few options to choose.

Your basic compulsory insurance will be about maybe 200 a month, maybe a bit more depending on whether your employer is paying your AHV and including accident cover...

It may sound like a lot - but we are a family of 5 and we are paying just under 800 a month for our compulsory cover including a few extras, and that's a lot for us! - however, the health system seems absolutely brilliant - I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a better system anywhere else in the world...

Yep, Jenny was a great help to me and I paid less than Comparis told me I would. Plus I got a long explanation of what it all means, so I know what I am paying for

As you're 20 years old, you fall into the 19-25 age bracket i.e. "young adult". This means that your premiums will be slightly lower than those of an adult.

There are several things you can do in order to keep costs down, such as alternative methods of insurance or choosing a higher deductible.

Re: Need health insurance lausanne

ellie- I do hope as you are not an Au-Pair- that you are paid accordingly. Are you living with the family, or non-residential? Because you are not an Au Pair- your salary should be at least minimum wage and should allow you to afford proper health insurance.

Your absolute minimum salary should be 18.45 CHF- but if you have over 3 years experience or any related qualifications, it should be quite a bit more. If you eat and live there, they can make a deduction from salary of course. If you work more than 8 hours per week, as I am sure you do, THEY have to pay your accident insurance too, but health insurance is your responsibility. Has your employer declared you and do they pay accident insurance and social/pension payments???? Are you EU or non EU?

Ooops, I've just seen the date for ellie's post- so hopefully her problems are sorted out now. But perhaps the above applies to goda too- so won't delete.
