how long does it generally take to arrange health insurance with a Swiss provider?

I've received the letter saying I have 30 days to let the authorities know what my health insurance is. My employer is supposed to be registering me for their private health insurance (back in the UK, and I'm still paying NI there), but this seems to be taking a while and I'm a bit worried that they won't get it sorted out in time, in which case I need to make sure that I still have enough time to sign up for one here.

I'd give a photocopy of the letter to your HR dept and get them to do their job.

It will take a matter of minutes to fill in a form for your health fund and a few days to it to be confirmed. Payments and cover will be backdated to when you were first registered here...
