I am considering healther insurance which is covering pre-existing condition. I am a student, but I can not subcribe a student insurance due to my pre-existing condition. Now I have to consider premium & deductable depeding on the expected medical cost.

I am required to periodic(quarterly) blood test including
Hepatic function panel(or LFT),
HBeAntigen,
HBeAntibody,
HBV DNA and
Alpha Fetoprotein Tumor Marker (AFP).
Could you let me know how much it costs for me?

Also I need medication... could you also let me know how to know the price of a certain medicine in Swiss?

This is very challenge for me to figure out what would be best insurance for me.
If I could know the cost for medical and medication, it would be very helpful.

I have what's called a HMO medical insurance with a minimum yearly amount which I have to pay myself. After that I only pay 10% of all doctors and medication bills. You'll find that's the case with blood tests too which can be done at your Dr's surgery and sent for analysis.

I don't think there are members who'll know the exact prices for tests and medication on here but you can ask your Dr for a generic version of your medication to keep costs down.

For the blood tests I would estimate around 40 CHF (+/- 10 CHF) for each test (although this may depend on how routine they are...specialised tests may be more expensive).
For medication I agree with what Oldhand has written.

I needed to know the cost of my medication to figure out what franchise to go with etc. I just sent an email to a pharmacy asking the price and they sent it in a reply. Maybe a good idea for you to do?

I hope you realise it is very challenging for us to figure out the cost for "medical and medication" without knowing what your pre-existing medical condition is. There is only so far that the Internets go...

However given that the tests you have to pass point strongly toward an evolutive pathology I would rather recommend the lower franchise...

I've just been charged 360.- chf this week for a set of general blood tests. Iron, diabetes, liver, that type of thing.

Each test cost between 30 and 40 francs each. Some a little more but not much.
