I read the literature but decided not to go for it.

However, based on the above posts it would seem to be a good solution for most people.

We only do it because it saves money on the monthly premium. Otherwise, we wouldn't either... hardly make use of the advice. Having said that, if it becomes a royal pain in the a$$ at some point, we'll shop around and drop it.

Re: Telmed option - your experience ?

I had the flu a few years ago. Went to see the doctor and told him my symptoms, including my temperature which I measured myself in the morning.

He asked a few questions and gave me a prescription - all stuff you can get without a prescription. Then he sent me off.

A few weeks later I was billed more than Fr100 for this chat. He did not even touch me. He could have done all this over the phone. I decided immediately to switch to telmed. Saved chunks of money for practically the same thing.

Re: Telmed option - your experience ?

A few years ago I had the Medgate option. I hated it.

I could never speak to someone with an even average French (I'm a native speaker), most were Swiss Germans and could barely express themselves in French.

Once they gave me potentially dangerous advice when I was pregnant (my Ob was very shocked afterward when I told her what they had said).

They made me paid an expensive course of treatment because a nurse made a mistake and didn't write down the info I gave her one the phone. It was my words against theirs, and they refused to go through the recorded phone messages...
