Hello everyone

This is my 1st post and I have a question about the health insurance in Switzerland. I am a PhD student in Brazil and I will start working as a post-doc in Zurich next August. I have researched on internet and I found a health insurance for international post-docs named "Swisscare". Can anybody tell me any information about it or share any experience with Swisscare?

Hey, most foreign PhDs/postdocs opt for Swisscare which costs 245 Sw fr for 3 months...Quite hassle free in that you just pay online, no medical test etc, and get insured immediately. You can do all this within 3 months of arriving here and settling more pressing issues . If you are starting next August, then it is too early to worry about insurance now IMO.

There are several student insurance companies around.

The most popular seem to be Swisscare, Goldencare and CSS Studentcare.

They are all very similar - offering low premiums (usually between 80.- and 90.- a month) and a low annual deductible (between 75.- and 100.- p.a.)

Some have add-ons available, some don't.

Premiums may vary if you choose to pay annually, quarterly etc. depending on which one you go for.

All 3 are reputable companies as far as I'm aware.
