International Health Care Insurance?

Hi everyone...

does anyone have international private health care insurance? I'd like to be able to go to the doctor in Germany, Switzerland and UK as I'm travelling around a lot.. without it being an emergency.

Has anyone got any experience with those? Like BUPA International, or Allianz?

Thanks.

Re: International Health Care Insurance?

From what I have seen the Allianz for example is only a tiny bit more expensive but would offer worldwide private health insurance... not sure whether I could go to a doctor in Switzerland like anybody else with it. I'm totally lost with health care insurances... even more so after reading the FAQ's.

Re: International Health Care Insurance?

YES,

Our normal swiss insurance includes some cover for travel.

I would recommend two things:

- phoning your health insurer to ask what they offer/include as standard or supplementary.

- getting a quote for travel insurance to cover your needs - you can get travel insurance online these days...

Re: International Health Care Insurance?

I currentlyt don't have a health insurance in Switzerland as I'm still in the UK.

I'm not quite looking for travel insurance - with that you usually can't go to another country and just turn up at the GP or go to the dentist if it's not an emergency.

And I'm considering the fact that I'll be moving around Europe still for the next 10-20 years and it will be harder and harder to get a good health insurance in every country the older you get. So, keeping an international one would kind of make sense in the long run. Otherwise, every time you go somewhere else you have to start a new health insurance and the older you are the more expensive it will be. Unless you stay with one insurer.... if that makes sense?
