Okay so I'm with Sanitas for health insurance because they are the cheapest. I got my policy back in October.

My Wife came over in January. It turned out that Sanitas is the cheapest for her as well. So I sent the form away.

A few days later the Neuchatel canton people sent me a peice of paper saying they have chosen my insurance for me and have chosen Sanitas. So I let things linger, hoping that Sanitas will work things out.

So my wife got a phone call at home last week. She doesn't speak French so it wasn't so good.

She got another phone call today from someone who speaks a bit more English. He said he would get his friend to call who did speak English.

So I decided to just phone Sanitas and see what the lay of the land is. The lady on the phone had no record of my wife's insurance form

She said she would send another form out by email. It had completely the wrong names on it though

But I KNOW they received the insurance forms. Because between me getting my insurance and me sending away for the Wife's insurance I moved and got a land line. I had no land line at my old place.

Also Neuchatel canton not giving you the full three months to find insurance is a hassle!

I personally have yet to find anything in Switzerland that is NOT unnecessarily difficult and confusing... further compounding my belief that the Swiss actually LIKE to suffer. Yes, I think I know why the Swiss don't smile.

Anyway. Sanitas loses everything, and they don't pay for anything...
health insurances are way too expensive, that they don't pay for anything, only for a cold. But who's going to see a doc with a cold. Not me.

I was actually pretty happy with sanitas for my pregnancies-they were fairly fast at reimbursing (about two months) and the only problem we had was that early in the second pregnancy they didn't reimburse for labwork because it wasn't clearly labeled as a pregnancy expense. However, once we called them, it was taken care of.


anyway, I don't think Sanitas is particularly bad as an insurance company.

Insurance + Banks, divided by non regulators = greed! greed!! greed!!!
