I am an EU citizen who moved to switzerland for 6 month contract job.I been here from two months and paying tax in switzerland.I have few questions.May be someone can share little information.
1.I heard that everyone have to buy own health insurance in switzerland. Is it applicable for EU Citizens also?(Because in my country, healthcare is free)Also,my total stay is going to be only 6 months.
2.What are the things I need to llook for in health insurances offered by various insurance companies?
3.how much does it generally cost?whats the cheapest and best insurance cover you heard of?
I am asking these questions because this is first time I am buying this sort of health insurance...
There are a few threads on the forum about the E111 or now known as the EHIC. Use the search function or view the related threads appearing at the bottom of this page.

Even Swiss citizens need to have their health insurance. So no exception. To my knowledge, you should have health insurance even if you are here for a single day.

Actually there is an exception although it will not help the OP as it applies to certain diplomats and staff of international organisations (active and retired): http://www.eda.admin.ch/eda/fr/home/...ns/inshea.html
Tourists and temporary visitors ought to have accident and catastrophic health and repatriation insurance, including EU/EEA visitors. But if they don't, a EHIC will cover basic emergency needs for the latter (as others have said).
