Anyone have "global" health insurance through Assura?

Are there any Assura customers who might know if the Mondia and/or Aventura products provide global coverage or coverage only in the EU/AELE area? I'm planning a trip to the far east and possibly another to the US and I'm not quite sure if I'll have any health cover. Google Transglish isn't helping much.

Re: Anyone have "global" health insurance through Assura?

I desperately tried for 3 months to get a quotation from Assura with no chance, they kept promising that I'd receive an offer by email/surface mail/phone call etc.... I decided at the end to give up and go for Groupe Mutuel "Mundo" coverage (it's 60chf/year i nthink on average)

Assura called me after 4 months if they should send consultant to sign for the worldwide coverage.......

I don't know to be honest.

But if you are worried about it, what about joining up with Rega - seems quite cheap for a year's subscription. After all, to my mind the main issue is always about getting you back to CH. Once there you can get whatever treatment you need under your insurance...

Quote:
You can become a Rega patron by paying the following minimum contributions:
· Fr. 30.-- per person
· Fr. 70.-- per family (parents and children under the age of 18 on the day of payment)
· Fr. 40.-- for one-parent families (single parents and children under the age of 18 on the day of payment)

I'm with ASSURA and I have the Mondia insurance too. This is a travel insurance valid for the whole world (world = mondo (Italian), mundo (Spanish), etc.).
