Re: Heath Insurance contributes to gym membership......

Yes, the answer is that each company reimburses differently for gym contributions

It not only depends on the company you're with but also the supplementary product you have.

e.g. if you ask "what about EGK?" then it depends if i) you have supplementary insurance with them and ii) if the product you have covers contributions towards gym memberships.

Assura was mentioned - they don't cover anything towards gyms in their supplementary cover however, if you flash your insurance card at a "Let's Go" gym, then you'll get 20% off your membership. (which in fairness, is probably about 200CHF as an annual membership seems to be about 1000CHF).
N.B. Let's Go gyms tend to be mainly in the French-speaking part.

Some companies will reimburse your gym if your gym is on a specific list.
Some companies will reimburse any gym and some will also reimburse for sports club memberships instead (e.g. For those who fall into the "I go swimming twice a week, run round the lake and am part of a football club that costs me 500CHF a year annual subscription so I don't have time to go to the gym" category!)

For those companies that only work with a specific list - the gyms on their lists are not necessarily better/less good than any other gyms. They've simply paid to be on a list... A friend of mine owns a gym in Vevey and he's not on the lists for example.

Swica do seem to offer the biggest contribution but depending on where you live, you might save what they contribute p.a. in premiums so it may be a bit "swings and roundabouts" depending on your premiums.

Hope this helps

Re: Heath Insurance contributes to gym membership......

Do the insurance companies only contribute towards gym fees, or do they also cover the subs at sports clubs? eg: running, tennis, etc

The majority of companies will only reimburse on an annual gym membership but there is 1 I know of who reimburses for sports clubs subscriptions too.
