That's what one doctor I had assumed. I switched quite quickly to one who understood what "franchise" meant. I've spent over CHF1'300 so far this year on my own healthcare - not reached my excess yet.

Hi, yes I'm still around. Apologies, been pretty busy and not been able to get on here as much as I'd like.

The official premiums came out this afternoon and yes... most companies have increased quite a bit.

It's incredible how much they all increase each year...

It does look like ZH, BE and VD have been badly hit... again...

Re: Theres gonna be some hurt, massive price increases in Health insurance.

I wasn't aware of the price increase-stupid me, and when i opened the Assura letters my mouth dropped to the floor. Assura have increased my basic by 101chf??? is that possible or am i reading it wrong? I got two bills for some reason, one at 277chf and then another at 235chf. I had to tell them several times and send them several letters of proof from my employer that accident insurance has been covered. Is it normal for a price hike to be 101chf??
I don't even get a pay increase like that each month and then increase is definately a kick in the stones...

Are you sure they've increased by 101.- for one person for one month?

It sounds like a heckuva lot to me?

Re: Theres gonna be some hurt, massive price increases in Health insurance.

yeh that's what i thought too. i was dumbfounded. I have those orange bills, six of them. Three with 277chf and another 3 with 235chf with my name on it. I am going to try and call them up but they only really speak french since it's Assura. My last bill was 176chf and i have paid all the money i owed for when i went to the doctors twice this year. so it's not that i owe anything from those visits. me and my husband were both paying the same amount and his is now 218chf, which is still a bit of an increase but compared to my 176chf to 277chf!? no idea. completely clueless I am.

Re: Theres gonna be some hurt, massive price increases in Health insurance.

Yep! They call it Preisangleichung (price ajustments). Had that a year ago. Also around 100.- Fr. I wanted to change the health insurence, but I couldn't find a much cheaper one. So I just stayed. 277.- is quite cheap, in Bern you pay around 400.- Fr. for a month. Bloody hustlers!
But the bill should be every month the same. You've got a contract. Look what's on the contract.
Maybe they made a mistake with a medical bill and subtract the balance with the monthly bill.
At best you ask, but never pay more as on the contract!

Had you been receiving an insurance subsidy? This is about CHF 100,- per month.

I always go round to their office and have it out face to face with them. It's much quicker and easier too. They usually have some late vist arrangements.

I am now looking at the latest price increases by some of the major health insurance companies and they are damn right ugly in certain cantons.
Zurich zone 1, Bern zones 1,2 and 3 have been hit hard, particularly with sanitas, innova and visana group.
Basel is also getting slugged, they must be after all those rich pharma types (Begga,Adrianlondon?)
In contrast Helsana increases have been very moderate this year, with the exception of Bern 1, too many bloated public servant paypackets to pass up I suppose.
Sanitas is making big (massive) increases all over so look out.
A thing to keep in mind, is most of the increases have been in the basic insurance, from what I can see, most of the supp. insurance remains fairly constant.
You have been warned............
Oh Himmelarschundzwirn! Could you not have posted that on Friday, just signed on with Sanitas when I launched my Einzelfirma.
